Visual Art – Philadelphia

Khaleb Brooks is a social justice activist and visual artist. With a BA in International Studies and Women and Gender Studies they focus on artistic rehabilitation with youth. Khaleb has worked with indigenous children in Cambodia, Ayamara and Coetchwa peoples in Bolivia, Nicaraguan refugees in Costa Rica, victims of sex-trafficking and the caste system in India, and conducted research in Panama, Chile and Cuba. Currently this arts activist is a poetry coach at Palumbo High School, a mentor and workshop leader with the Philadelphia Youth Poetry Movement, a youth editor for Apiary Magazine and a freelance oil-painter. Using art as a platform of expression Khaleb engages community to build, create, heal and prosper.
