Visual Art – Detroit

My name is Joanne DeMarco, and I am a fluid/pour artist. The first artist to discover this "accidental painting" technique was David Alfaro Siqueiros in the 1930's. The physics behind this form of painting is what drew me in. It isn't just mixing paint together. It is actually knowing the viscosity and density of the paints to determine how they will flow, and also have an idea of how the painting will look once it is dry. For my artwork, the more fluid the paints are the better the outcome. I move the paint around quite a bit before I am satisfied with the result.
