Creativity is second nature to me. I\'ve always enjoyed creating things or modifying something to make it unique. As a teenager, I enjoyed creating costume props (cat ears, wings, horns, you name it). The thought of making my own jewelry had crossed my mind plenty of times, but I didn\'t know where to start. I took a jewelry design course which steered me in the right direction. I started making jewelry in 2009, and after about a year of learning new techniques (a spending a ton of money on craft supplies that I never used again), I finally found my niche. I became obsessed with the immaculate detail of Victorian era jewelry. I can\'t stand repetition and I can\'t do simple, thus, creating bold, one of a kind pieces has brought me great joy. I\'ve used vintage and antique components to bring that timeless feel to each piece. each item I make is special to me because of how much time and effort I put into it. I began selling my pieces through Etsy in 2010, and gave my business a name, Freya\'s Rat Bites & Other Oddities, and have customers all over the world. About two years ago, I discovered the wonder of polymer clay which has broadened my horizons and allowed me to create even more strange and unusual things. I am now a single parent, student, and work full time, but I still manage to get my ideas crafted into reality. There\'s nothing I enjoy more than making jewelry.
