In the words of Carisa Hendrix, being a Side Show entertainer means that I do everything that nobody else wants to do: I walk on broken glass, I put flaming torches into my mouth, and spin flaming chains of death around my body. It's true that I risk my life everytime I perform but it's all well worth it. I live the life of a Circus entertainer and eat, sleep and breath modern contemporary circus.
I joined the modern contemporary Circus movement a few years ago, and since then I have become not only proficient but internationally known for hoop and fire manipulation, fire eating, glass walking, and minor feats of illusion.
I learned to eat fire when I was 16 years old, from Mephisto the Master. An eccentric old man with a webpage that I couldn't take my eyes off of. He was a good teacher (though I admit I never met him and am unsure if he is still alive) and he taught me well. Most importantly he got me through the learning process alive, which is more than some fire eating teachers can say.
So far I have preferred performing solo. I was with a very short lived troupe called The Exentrix, and still am searching for my place in a troupe. Though, I wonder if a troupe is right for me. After so long of performing independently it may be difficult to join a group. I guess time, and the right offer will tell.
