Kelz is not just any makeup artist, but a designer with a passion to express beauty as a feature, never just an accessory. At just 23, her resume resembles that of someone twice her age. In 2009, she completed her first beauty program at Beau Monde College of Hair Design, graduating as a fully licensed cosmetologist. Not long after, she took up courses at Cinema Makeup School, Los Angeles where she studied High Fashion Makeup Artistry and Body Painting. Returning home near the end of 2010, she was offered an internship position at Beau Monde that took her studies abroad to learn state-of-the-art haircutting and makeup techniques at the L'Oreal academy in Rome, Italy. Upon completion of the internship, she received her Instructor's License to teach cosmetology . A love for big cities and bright lights has driven her passion in different direction. While Kelz works full time as a barber and mother, she never fails to rock her many talents in the beauty industry. Within the last year, she has made quite the name for herself, working her hair and makeup magic on set for fashion shows such as True Religion, Rock and Republic, and LA Fashion Week's "A Night in Paris" as well as commercials/TV including TLC's "The Unpoppables" with designer Katie Balloons and "PENICHE: Beautiful Rebellion". She has worked with talent such as Daniel Baldwin, Amy Roloff, and Katherine Blair. Inspiration and education are crucial elements to any artists career. With that said, Kelz has been focused on starting up Kelz Beauty Studio where she will not only take clients, but also teach classes and host fashion events. Her goal? To discover and expose the beauty and artist in everyone. "As soon I could grasp a pencil as, I've been creating art. Growing up, I was always sketching, painting, making jewelry and sculptures out of various materials. As I got a little older and much more interested in wearing makeup and styling my hair, I found it easy to take the skills I had already developed and apply them to the world of beauty. I am dedicated to my desire to learn and passion to create. Within the next year I plan to open a full service salon and school of my own. Until then, I am focused on holding workshops and demonstrations for other industry professionals and emerging artists, as well as continue building my portfolio through fashion shows, photo shoots, and personal projects. Thanks to RAW, I have presented my work at nine RAW showcases between Portland and Seattle. Most of my inspiration is drawn from modern fashion and anything considered edgy or rebellious; graffiti, hip-hop, abstract designs. Really, anything that is not-so-conservative can easily find its way into my inspirational train of thought. I do my best to apply this to every design I create, whether it' starting from scratch or transforming something cliché into a unique new perspective."
