With a unique name and a sound to match, 21-year old NYLA defines a music genre of her own. Infusing pop, jazz, and classical styles, known to her fans as ‘Popsicle’ music, NYLA puts on high-energy shows with a powerful voice and an undeniable addicting presence full of quirky fun and an original sense of style. Drawing from influences such as Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Corrine Bailey Rae, and Natasha Bedingfield, NYLA seeks to inspire others through the keys of honesty, integrity, and empowerment. NYLA has recently started recording her debut album entitled “Note to Self”, a self-reminder of appreciating life, friendship, family, and love, a true testament to who she is and the artist she wants to be. NYLA has arranged both full band and intimate acoustic performances at venues all around the Los Angeles Area, creating glimpses of her multifaceted groove and the range of her musical genius. Under the direction of Paulette McWilliams, a background vocalist who has graced the stage with Luther Vandross, Mary J Blige, Marvin Gaye, and Jennifer Lopez, to name a few, Nyla has developed a sensibility to perfecting her craft in Vocal arranging, creating melodic lines that are catchy and unique. In efforts to stay connected to her ever growing fan base, NYLA launched a blog known as Flipping Frowns, which chronicles her journey as an artist and the relationships she creates with her fans. Through the importance of musical vulnerability and intimate connection with her fans, NYLA is ready to take her keys into 2012.
