ABOUT

Raised in Las Cruces, NM, Abel discovered his passion for art at a young age when he began drawing at only six years old. He continued to cultivate his talent, eventually attending New Mexico State University where he graduated in 2008 with a degree in both graphic design and art history. During his time at NMSU, he won “Best in Show” each year from 2005-2008 at their student art show. Abel draws inspiration from The Bible, hip-hop style, graffiti art, and the high renaissance movement. He successfully blends these differing elements into his own specific style using methods such as screen printing, oil painting, and drawing. Recently, Abel has been featured on DMagazine.com. He has shown at The Belmont in Austin, TX through Raw Artists, the Ravach Arts Company in Deep Ellum in Dallas, TX and has been invited to go on tour showing his art with a Hip Hop fusion tour with the rap artists "A Tribe Called Quest". At his latest show at Club Deville in Austin, Abel was chosen by his peers as the Austin winner in the Visual Artist category to go on to be considered to win the title of Visual Artist of the Year for the whole United States through the RAW Artist organization. He is blessed and excited about this opportunity.
