Fashion – Sydney

For as long as I can remember, I have always had a passion for the creative and crafty aspects in life. Born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand in 1992, I was surrounded by a family of dressmakers and artists. Making the move across the ditch to Sydney 9 months ago, with the opportunity to begin my fashion career. My interest in fashion and visual art further commenced at Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design, studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Fashion Design (2010-14). My degree allowed me to discover my own personal aesthetic. As a womenswear specialist, the aesthetic of my graduate collection, Art of Armour, draws a fine line between high fashion and costume, with attention to intricate detail and handcrafts. Art of Armour is inspired by early Japanese Samurai armour and focuses on portraying their passion for craftsmanship, allowing me to stick true to my creative personae. Focusing on the concept that Japan is a country of contradictions, the women’s wear garments in Art of Armour reflect the theme of opposites and unconventional, soft protective clothing is key.
