Alana Martins

I\'m originally from NY,and made my cross country trip to San Diego in 99. Feeling very inspired, I decided to experiment with painting. It started as a way to release and replace writing. The paintings slowly evolved over the years with practice. I don\'t have any art training but I\'m very passionate about the process of creating. I tend to paint with vibrant colors & contrasts. The artwork includes animals, nature, meditative or musical images. I guess I let the universe decide. Years ago a friend encouraged me to show my work and I sold my first piece. Eventually I did several more shows and fundraisers here in SD. Recently I\'ve been painting on old vinyl records that have been trashed. I love being able to recycle & maintain their beauty. They also happen to make a perfect canvas! When Im not painting, I am studying Natural Healing & Herbs in Ocean Beach. I also opened an Etsy store to keep the inspiration flowing. I cant imagine life without art, it has become a huge part of me. I will always make time to create!!
