Visual Art – Milwaukee
Native Canadian, but I grew up in Wauwatosa, WI. Graduated with a BFA in Ceramics from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI. Currently work as the art studio coordinator at the Lutheran Home teaching art to residents there. I also teach art to kids on the weekends with CovArts, a non profit organization offering free art classes and dedicated to getting kids inspired by all sorts of art mediums. In my current work, I am doing a lot of ceramics handbuilding using handmade molds to get the kinds of shapes I want and make production easier. I am very inspired by natural shapes and textures, drawing a lot from rock and crystal shapes. My work combines functionality with sculpture to create pieces that are useable for everyday, but bring an element of whimsy to the everyday as well.
