Alex Shelley

Alex Shelley is a professional dancer, choreographer, and Hip Hop teacher originally from Cairns and now based in Brisbane. His dance journey began at the age of 10 and he was actively involved in the Cairns Hip Hop community. Alex performed regularly as a member of THREESIXFIVE crew with GMC Clint Smith (SYTYCD). At the age of 16, Alex created New Era Crew and taught Hip Hop at numerous schools and FNQ Dance Academy. In 2013 Alex was invited to tour and assist world famous choreographers, Dave Scott, Gil Duldulao & Laurieann Gibson as part of the International Dancers Workshops in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns. Alex was responsible for all warm-ups for all workshops and was Laurieann’s assistant for the Cairns workshops. Alex is passionate about sharing his love of dance and also flew to Gove, Northern Territory to perform Hip Hop Workshops for numerous Indigenous Communities in 2013 as part of The Block Party Crew (Cairns). After graduating high school, Alex moved from Cairns to Brisbane in Jan 2014 to complete a year of full time training with Raw Dance Company and obtained a Certificate IV in Dance. He is trained by some of the dance industry’s most elite teachers and choreographers in styles: Technical Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Break, Contemporary, Ballet, Funk, Tap, Waacking, House, Popping, Locking, Commercial Jazz, Dancehall, Salsa, Zouk, Flamenco, Gymnastics, Musical Theatre and Circus Aerial. Dance Trainers: Jack Chambers, Lucy Chambers, Andrew Fee, Michael Schwandt, Larissa Thayane, Michael Rosemann, Jason Duff, Matt Browning, Vanessa Friscia, Karlee Hall, Anti Fischer, Sam Windsor, Sheru Bharadwaja, Errol Cenita, Gaz Griffiths, Nerida Matthaei, Sammie Williams, Urban Gymnastics, Dave Kuresa, James Fenwick, TJ Tauroa and Clint Smith. Alex is now the leader of Raw Dance Company’s “RAW Crew” and has extensive performance experience including corporate gigs, flash mobs, dance events and festivals. In addition he has been the Host of the Yo Gabba Gabba kids show in the Sunshine Coast and has made appearances as Nova Boy (Nova 106.9), Hogs Breath Mascot (NRL Broncos) and even a Gorilla for pre Bruno Mars show (B105). He is also a back up dancer for artist Nicole Skye and is featured in her music video “Terminate”. He also competed at the International Hip Hop competition “Body Rock” in San Diego USA in 2015 with Academy of Brothers who placed 3rd worldwide. Alex and his New Era Crew have been the opening act for the Justice Crew Tours in Cairns in 2014 and 2016. Alex choreographs and teaches Hip Hop throughout Brisbane, Gold Coast and Tweed Heads at numerous Dance studios and High Schools all ages from beginners to advanced. He is one of the main Hip Hop teachers at Raw Dance Company. He is crew coach of Vivid (Junior crew) V-Hub Dance Studio and is one of the Hip Hop coaches for “BAMD” Bust a Move Dance. Alex is a strong and versatile dancer who is passionate about Hip Hop and loves performing, choreographing and teaching.
