Alison Hamil

I am a fine artist based in Atlanta, Georgia. My work reflects both personal and universal healing and spiritual growth, and it is also an exploration of the grey areas in which philosophy, spirituality, and science overlap. I am interested in examining both personal and universal realities through painting. My watercolor paintings in the Affirmations series feature brightly colored, symmetrical shapes and patterns which resemble human body parts and other life forms. I use an organic style that is inspired by anything from plants to coral reefs. This style of painting comes to me intuitively, and it is largely determined by the natural movements of the paint within the water. The uncontrolled elements of my painting process allow me to focus more on the conceptual and spiritual aspects of my work. I utilize components of the procedure in a way that is similar to meditation and prayer.
