Photography – Columbus

I began with b&w film photography in college in Boston, but didn\'t pursue it on a regular basis until a few years ago. In many ways, my works are the creation of the combination of music and fairy tales. Obsessed with both from an early age, I strive to bring imagery to that combination. Freeing the fairy tale images manifested in my mind from varying genres of music, and bringing them to physical form, both motivates and inspires me. Femininity and natural surroundings are recurring themes throughout my work, and with a square frame, reminiscent of an album or cd, and self portraiture as a mode of transportation, my goal is to draw the viewer into that song’s world. Each image comes to me from a song and is carefully planned before it is shot, creating scenes full of intent. My camera and computer become my paint and canvas, freeing these images from my mind and bringing them to the light. I grew up in Scituate, Massachusetts, on the ocean, but now live in Columbus, Ohio. I miss the ocean and mountains every day and try to visit one or the other every chance I get.
