In The Band

Music – Baltimore

In The Band, although not named as such, was formed on St. Patrick\'s day 2013, by the guitarist (Eli Herrnstadt) and drummer (Craig Thomas) of the now defunct Mad Hatter. With Eli having returned to Maryland after a year-and-a-half long hiatus, the reunion quickly gained momentum, using the plethora of material written in the interim. Mad Hatter\'s bassist (Mark Blair), was soon jamming with the duo, however left to pursue a college education, although still remains affiliated with the band contributing basslines and creativity. Soon after his departure, a chance meeting at a bonfire and a subsequent successful jam session, led to Frank Mason\'s recruitment as the band\'s primary bassist. Throughout this period, although still unnamed, the band began to gather a steady trickle of fans and supporters, playing at friends houses, open mics, and most often at various spots in the woods and along the Patapsco River. People who would happen upon the band jamming in the woods or along the river and stayed to listen and hang out were told they were now \"in the band\" and \"just because [they were] not \'in the band\' didn\'t mean they weren\'t \'in the band.\'\" This ultimately led to the name and driving philosophy of the band. Soon after acquiring a name, the band acquired another member. By another chance meeting at a party, Grant Goldberg joined the band, filling out the lineup with a second guitar. In The Band currently plays wherever, whenever, as time and opportunity allow.
