Ariel Maccarone

Visual Art – Los Angeles

Born and raised in a Southern California suburb once covered in orange groves and dairy farms, Ariel Maccarone drew since youth, and began exploring painting in her early twenties. After dropping in and out of college for six years--without completion--she ultimately left alone on a four month backpacking trip throughout Australia and Israel. In order to finance her trip, she worked as a bartender, maid, gas station attendant, and ranch hand. Upon her return to California, Maccarone moved to the small artist community of Silver Lake, CA in 2008. In 2011, she began pursuing journalism with Red Bull\'s arts and cultural magazine, ChinaShop. She currently works as a contributor for the Los Angeles-based arts and culture blog, YAY! LA, while doing PR for rock band, Black Belt Karate.
