Fashion – San Jose

Growing up, I knew I was meant to be creative. Even as a child, before I knew what art or fashion was, I had the instict to create. Thinking back on it, I have to say most of my childhood was spent cultivating a library of inspirations that I now reference in my work. Music, TV, movies; images and sounds I absorbed and recorded. I would let everything around me in. Although an artistic passion existed within me, I didn\'t have exposure to fashion first hand. My mother didn\'t have a closet full of YSL for me to rummage through. Fashion would surface as my driving force a little later, after learning how to sew. This skill would not only aid me in finding my creative voice, but be ultimately what I consider my greatest attribute as a designer. Learning how to see clothes from the inside out, the construction and interworkings of garments, lead into understanding the handling and characteristics of fabric and then become a need to know the industry of fashion. I immersed myself in a daily education of desingers, magazines, the history of fashion, the business of fashion, the art of fashion. After all this time, since being a 14 year old boy and knowing I wanted to be a fashion designer to now, all that self-training and a need to always learn more really hasn\'t stopped.
