ART: Alex Omega
Photographer Alex Omega loves getting lost in what he is creating. Get lost with him at the next Los Angeles Showcase at Elevate Lounge on Thursday, September 16th. He talks to RAW about his work.

Tell us about yourself and how you first got started working with photography?
I am a 27-year-old Aries… I grew up in a small town outside of Bakersfield called Lamont (put that on the map). I have a 5 year old daughter that I adore and was recently married in April. Art has always been something that was close to my heart, but I never had my sights on photography until the later years of my life. Now that I picked up my Camera I am definitely never looking back. I guess you can say I found my nitch in life.
From where do you draw inspiration for your work?
I draw inspiration from everywhere; music comes to mind as a big inspiration. I hear music and I can start painting an image in my head, and new concepts get created.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love getting lost in what I’m creating. My mind is free in creation and the next thing I know four hours have passed. It’s a great feeling to get lost in creativity and then see a final outcome. It is like my own natural high.
Medium of choice?
I love my Nikon d90. Although Canon is a great brand. I’d prefer my Nikon camera, and also my Mac; I can do anything with those two, hehe.
Are there any artists or art movements, past or present, that strongly inform and influence your work?
Minimalism & Modern art are some favorite movements … other artists of the present that I definitely admire are Chase Jarvis, Dave Hill, and Zack Andrews.
Why showcase at RAW?
I love what RAW stands for and what it is doing for many artists, and RAW just opened the door for me in a place that is beyond my expectations and it’s a privilege to showcase for them.
Favorite thing to do outside of your craft?
I love to travel with my family … if the finances were there, I would definitely love to travel the world with them.
Any current rising stars within the art arena that you would recommend we look out for?
My good friend Priscilla! She is awesome and is an insane artist! Look her up! www.flickr.com/palise
