Tell us about yourself and how you first got started making art.
I have been painting for years, but I have done a million jobs to support my family. When I was in the 3rd grade King Tut came to the Seattle Art Museum. I fell in love with the beauty of him and I try to make my life beautiful like that.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
I love Modern Art, but classic colors and images inspire me.
From where do you draw inspiration for your work?
Antiquity and Modern. The middle ages bore me.
What do you love most about what you do?
I like making people happy. Really. It's very dysfunctional, but I love it. Life is too short to be negative.
Medium of choice?
Acrylic. Acrylic is my favorite. I like the immediacy and the easiness of clean up.
Are there any artists or art movements, past or present, that strongly inform and influence your work?
I love Paul Klee, Jackson Pollack, Clifford Stills, Claude Monet, Gustave Klimt, Egyptian, Roman, Chinese, and Balinese.
Any previous exhibitions/collaborations that you are particularly proud of?
All or I would not do them.
Favorite thing to do outside of your craft?
Being a mom and wife; I know it's boring but I love it. Then drinking.
Any current rising stars within the art arena that you would recommend we look out for?
Matt Pipes, Liz Austerman, Bethany Ayers, Joey DeRuy, Matt O'Neil.
