Visual Art – Colorado Springs

I have always loved drawing and being creative. The more I work and create, the more I\'ve come to notice that there is a fine line between painting and drawing and even sculpture. Currently working with Cardboard and charcoal with some mixed media, I feel my new work reaches into all 3 of these categories. My work primarily deals with communicating the black human experience as seen through my own lens as a black male. Cardboard was chosen as a medium for its color, its layers to make relief, and its distinction as a low quality material.I draw inspiration from Contemporary art sources such as Mark Bradford and Whitfield Lovell. I find a connection between their work and my own, in that both artists work deal with issues of black American daily life, and aspects of their environment that effect it. My cardboard Artwork has been displayed in several group exhibitions, lead to 2 Solo exhibitions, and a purchase by the University of Colorado for their permanent Collection. I have high aspirations and even expectations to exhibit/display work at nationally recognized galleries and around the world. Beyond my B.A. in Visual Art, I plan to continue the journey of Artistic Inquiry & Expression, while also combining my developed talents with the ingenuity and talent of those in my network to create a brand that leads to successful business ventures.
