Visual Art – Austin
Ashley Timberlake Tucker first became interested in painting growing up in
North Carolina. She exchanged her paint brush for a pipette while attending
NC State University and later graduated with a PhD in Biochemistry. She is
currently completing her postdoctoral research at UT Austin developing genetic
tools to discover the next-generation antibiotics. She enjoys scientific illustration
as well as traditional painting - blending the two worlds of art and science. Her
work explores the natural world from both realistic and abstract perspectives
using acrylic, watercolor, and ink mediums.
