Belindabilly

Fashion – Raleigh

I began designing clothing with the instruction of my father at an early age. In 2010, I graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a concentration in Fashion Design and Fiber and Materials Studies. While at school, I was surprised to find my passion lay in the Fiber department, where I experimented with new textures and screen-printing, and researched the history of women’s labor as related to home-making and domestic textiles. As a self-identified feminist, I have always found the feminine form something to be celebrated rather than hidden; this idea is a foundation of my design process, always striving to create interesting wearable clothing for real women. I founded Belindabilly while still in college as an online clothing store, and created my first two seasonal collections during my last year there. Belindabilly is a socially and ecologically responsible company, striving to offer high quality, eco-friendly clothing, and sourcing only fair-trade and organic materials. Aside from the seasonal line, Belindabilly offers limited edition, t-shirts and accessories for men and women, “upcycled” one-of-a-kind women’s clothing, and a signature collection of organic skirts and dresses. I currently live in Raleigh, NC with my husband Chris. I recently served on the Fashion Committee for Appetite for Art, an annual fundraiser for Boys and Girls Clubs of North Carolina, and have participated in several benefit fashion shows including the first annual Couture for a Cause in 2009 and Dance For Liberation’s La Vie in 2011, benefitting Arts Access Inc. Raleigh.
