Performing Art – San Francisco

Based out of the San Francisco Bay Area, Binki Danz Company was established in 2012 by artistic director, creator, and choreographer Bianca Stephanie Mendoza. As an all female dance company, Binki Danz focuses on political, economic, racial, and gender issues that affect us today. A Latin American feminist Bianca Mendoza uses her company Binki Danz to show works across the bay area that personify her views on these issues such as Salutations which was chosen to be performed at the Push Dance benefit concert spring of 2013. Binki Danz then performed its first evening length work entitled Effeminate Exigency which was performed at Kunst-Stoff Theater as a solo show August of 2013. Binki Danz then received a spot to perform in San Francisco's art event DAMSF with their piece Body Poetry which was also shown in Berkeley at Works in the Works. Binki Danz Company has been a regular residency holder at Joe Landini's The Garage in San Francisco which has since moved to Kunst-Stoff as a Saffehouse for resident artists. With this residency Binki Danz company created it's newest work Colloquy, a piece commemorating the voices of leaders past and present that uses dance as a response to their words. Binki Danz has been accepted into the D.I.R.T program (Dancing In Revolting Times) at Mission Dance Theater as a Dance Bregade production to perform Colloquy. With Bianca Mendoza's history in music tech, writing, and videography Binki Danz has the ability to reach its audience on numerous levels of media. Also, with a broad range in the ability to dance many dance forms Binki Danz is a company not limited to contemporary dance alone but infuses styles such as hip hop, baile Folklorico, samba, ballet, afro Brazilian and much more. With the ability to perform a vast majority of dance styles, Bianca Mendoza has created her own choreographic style and flare that she shows through Binki Danz and shares with the art community. Consistently moving forward and continuing to grow, Binki Danz is a unique dance company that is persistent and passionate in spreading awareness on issues dealing with social justice to its audience and will continue to do so with the help of the art community and lovers of art, dance, passion, and a voice that has something to say.
