Photography – Indianapolis

I did not begin photographing until the one day when a dream I had, ended. It’s that familiar feeling when you awake one morning, on no particularly unusual day, to the realization that you are utterly and completely dissatisfied with the direction your life is headed. In my scenario, such was the case for operatic singing. You see, the kind of structure and uniform discipline it takes to do something you find complete enjoyment in, and have it completely stripped of creative interjection, is absolutely draining. And on this particular day, without even knowing it, I found the medium that allowed me to express myself in a way that does not require a single syllable: photography. The work I have created since has been a reflection of inner workings of my mind, where brilliant ideas fester and flourish upon discovery.I aspire to create photographs that transport the mind to a different place in time where natural laws now longer apply. This aesthetic first came from studying the art of many great painters such as, Francis Bacon, Salvador Dali, and Hieronymus Bosch. Although I tend to lean more towards portraiture, I am discovering a new path, which involves creating space in a more conceptualized way. I want to poke and prod the marionette strings that decide our direction, and stimulate the urge to wake up uneasy. My hopes are that my ideas, my vision, can be collectively adapted to something more meaningful and has the capacity to be appreciated by others.
