Being an Independent Artist means managing your own brand. Which can be a lot of work for only one person... So the question is: How do people manage their careers when there are so many moving parts?

The best way is finding a system that works best for your lifestyle needs. Today we have the privilege of technology and so many awesome apps that help us through. Here is a list of five handy apps to help you stay on top of your game as an artist. From managing posts on social media to managing your finances these apps will cover a large range of your needs as an independent artist.

Social Media Managing App:

1. Later: Social media is crucial for your brand’s success. You have to create quality content, while also posting at strategic times. When it comes to managing multiple accounts like a Facebook page, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter, Later will be your biffle. It manages all of those accounts and lets you schedule and preview posts all in one place. To top it all off it can be accessed on both your desktop and mobile device.

Project Management App:

3. Slack: Avoid awkward situations, miscommunication, and nasty band breakups with this super handy app. Slack keeps track of who is on it and who’s been slacking. Facebook Messenger and iMessage can get pretty confusing and stressful when you’re planning your next showcase, or producing your next feature. The great thing about this app is that you can create different types of conversations or channels using #(hashtags). Making it really easy to find specific information. I recommend this app for bands, collaborations, filmmakers, and artists who are producing any type of event.

Favorite Feature: It has in-app integrations! Meaning you can connect the app to other apps, like todoist, so you can also create to-do lists making conversations more efficient!

Camera/Media App:

4. Google Photos: This app is simply amazing! It’s a cloud-based photo storage app where you could store any visual media that will be synced to all your Google accounts/devices. It gives you an UNLIMITED amount of space, lets you search through keywords (ex: Food, red, wedding, etc), lets you edit and add filters to your media, combines any duplicate photos, and lastly has a feature called Assistant which compacts any similar photos making it easier for you to get rid of digital clutter. This is helpful when organizing promotional material. Its new plan, which is unlimited, optimizes any files (compressed) to 16 megapixels into a high-quality version. Which is great for those who are shooting most of your photos from your smartphone. However, if you're a photographer and you want to keep the size you can opt for the old plan and if 15GB isn’t enough they offer 100GB for $2 & 1TB for only $10.
Favorite Feature: You can easily edit, add filters, and make fun gifs!
