BLOW-UP

BLOW-UP is the pseudonym for MARK ZIMIN. I have always strived to maintain the connection between camera and subject, to capture and maintain the humanity that exists on film the instant the shutter opens. I think beauty exists in the details of the moment, and that an intimate and sympathetic lens captures those details. Since nature and humanity are imperfect, the differences which distinguish us from one another are the reasons we\'ll go back to a photograph and look at it again and again. A true individual is hypnotic. It goes against my instinct to edit those details out, to add a layer of artifice or veneer to an image (Even multiple exposures are shot in-camera, on-site). The eye knows what is real and what isn\'t, just as it will see that there are real or artificial flowers at the dinner table. -- Whether candid or contrived image, I strive to take the best photographs I can then leave them be to find their audience and connect. When I succeed, the viewer can almost always project themselves into the space from which I took the photograph.
