Caitlin James

I am San Francisco based artist holding a BA in Fine arts from San Francisco State University. In my paintings you may notice that I am fond of lines, texture and high contrast dramatic lighting. I love the intensity of primary colors against black and white, and the raw emotional impact it has on the viewer. I incorporate a similar style into my sculptural works, using this method to outline the excitement and power of the femininity that I find is so expressive through clay. As well as being an artist, I also see myself as an art strategist and focus much of my time exploring ideas on how to create more avenues for art to reach the public sphere. After receiving my BA in Fine Arts from San Francisco State University I went on to work as gallery curator for Manos Nouveau, an Art focused restaurant in San Francisco, where I have hosted dozens of local artists.
