Visual Art – Connecticut

I was born in Lompoc, CA and raised in Waterbury, CT. When it comes to my art, I have always been inspired by the strength of a woman. Growing up this strength was frequently displayed by my own mother. She also told me frequently to follow my dreams regardless of what other people had to say about them. When she passed away in 2010, I knew that failing was not an option. I knew that if I wanted to become a full time artist I’d have to compose a strategy. I obtained my Bachelors degree in Economics and landed a position as a mortgage processor. With this job, I was able to invest in paint, brushes and easels to start painting. I have a background in pencil and charcoal drawings, but I’ve only been a painter for little over a year. It was a skill I picked up fairly quickly without any professional education. Since 2017, I have hosted 6 paint parties, live painted at 10 poetry open mics and displayed my work at 4 art showcases. I’m still in the process of becoming a full time artist, but my journey this far has been incredibly rewarding. I hope my art encourages people to see beyond the norm to become who they should be. Life is too short not to live.
