Cassie Tedder

I am Cassie Tedder, a visual artist and photographer based out of Nashville, Tennessee. Visit my website: www.cassietedder.com While I’m technically self-taught, I come from a family and community of artists who have lovingly shared their knowledge and creativity with me. Because of their insight and encouragement, they have fanned the flame and deserve more than a little credit for my development as an artist. I was also strongly influenced by my upbringing in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a city known not only for its art, but for its unique culture and inspirational beauty as well. I have been creating for as long as I can remember. Much of my childhood was spent either outdoors or working on any number of art projects, and I’ve never stopped. My journey to adulthood only confirmed my passion for the arts and helped me realize my gifting and purpose: that of an artist. I was designed to create and simply cannot help but pursue creative expression in everything I do. It’s during my adventures in the outdoors that I find most of the picturesque scenes in nature that are both the inspiration and subjects of my work. Nature’s beauty has always fascinated me, but I took an especially profound interest in it when I faced a season of great hardship and illness. The beauty I found in nature during that time brought me an abundance of hope, life and healing. As a result, I am extremely passionate about expressing natural beauty in my work. I love to use the colors, textures and patterns found in the natural world to emphasize the amazing creativity already on display for all to see. My fine art photography primarily features layers upon layers of images that produce a type of “visual symphony,” as a friend once put it. Several different aspects work together in order to produce a complex, raw and altogether dynamic piece. My hope is that my art provokes emotion and impacts the viewer for the better, leaving a sense of peace and wholeness. My goal as an artist is to draw people to beauty and ultimately to the Creator, who is Beauty and Life. I sincerely hope my expressions of beauty will bring others the same joy and richness of life they have brought me. I am always pursuing growth as artist, and I long to incorporate other media in my creative process. In addition to fine art photography, I also do portrait photography, ink drawings, mixed media artwork and interior decorating ... and I cook like crazy in my spare time.
