Visual Art – San Francisco

Although the idea of representing abstract ideas through actual artist work is an extensive idea, it is the guiding inspiration behind my work. The idea guiding this series developed from the desire to accurately depict anatomy, while leaning towards a more linear representation of feeling and thought. While the concept is abstract, the process is extremely instinctual and organic, which can be seen in the work itself. Drawing from the work of expressionist painter Agnes Martin, my work was inspired by the minimal yet unrefined way in which her work presents itself. This series is meant to speak entirely for itself, allowing the viewer to infer their own meanings; an important aspect of contemporary art. This series demonstrates my development in printmaking, stepping further from the literal towards a more intangible place. Although an important element of my life’s work, it symbolizes a liminal moment leading towards immense growth.
