charmed by nature

The jingle from a commercial that was popular in my childhood went something like this: The World looks mighty fine to me, cause Tootsie Rolls are all I see. Whatever it is I think I see, becomes a Tootsie Roll to me. This resonates with me as a practice of having no filters on my search for materials and inspiration. Anything is game. This is the way I see the world. My work is a reminder that salvaged and found pieces can be transformed into a finished piece that can become more than what they were when discarded. The method I use of considering all I see as possible components in my art becomes an active experience of discovery. I connect the found pieces, using them as a visual language, to express that discovery. The result is always surprising to me and fun, and reflects my sense of humor.
