Cheri Ellis is a self taught artist,
a cross disciplined artist who chose to learn the
development of different mediums though a
series of constant, self created challenges.
Drawing and painting were the first mediums
explored by Cheri, her style was detail oriented
from the very beginning. Throughout Cheri\'s
creative evolution, her art on paper and
fabric would come to express her internal
self. For this reason Cheri has practiced these
disciplines in a more private
manner for the sake of self exploration.
In 1992 Cheri began
her millinery business with children\'s hats.
Developing into a ten year time-span, the hats
evolved into women\'s millinery where the
shapes became sculptural and costume like
in their expansion.
In 2003 Cheri began to make dresses.
A lifetime passion for art on paper, art on fabric, along with the intertwining of the
female form and its metaphoric voice of
feminine wisdom, inspired Cheri\'s desire to
to begin this new medium. The designing and
making of skirts, dresses and coats, has
become more than a personal expression.
In this medium came the idea of women
taking back the connetion to their own
bodies by the wearing of hand-made art.
Cheri\'s artistic vision has been one that she
defines as a \'lifestyle\'. To constantly create, to
to be resourceful, has become an alternative to
consumerism. As each medium has come into
fruition in her life, its rewards have been to
provide for
