Cheryl Casden

I am a recent graduate of the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design and currently reside in Chicago. Over the last five years I have been investigating the role consciousness and perspective plays in my daily life. How emotions, creativity, and states of spiritual bliss begin, end, and begin again in sure continuum. Within the last year, I have been reflecting on spiritual practices vs. religious practices as well as the phenomenal scientific connections between quantum physics and Eastern mysticism. The parallels of science and art continues to direct and inspire the decisions within my various works. “I like to emphasize this “light” or intuition that brings transcendental experiences. In these moments of “letting go”, I believe we can truly become the conductors of our own symphonies, directing ourselves towards our higher powers and intentions. I enjoy channeling this attitude into performance, installation, paintings, mixed media work, and video art.” In today\'s misshapen ideologies, I am inspired to help remind my viewers of the measurable effect our consciousness has in our lives and the worlds surrounding.
