Visual Art – Los Angeles

The purpose behind my artwork is about generating a new dialogue about art expressionism. Critics have categorized or labeled my artwork as undisciplined and unstructured. However, it’s my opinion that by adhering to a structured or disciplined agenda, that the artist limits and/or excludes his or her own raw emotion. Regardless of the types of mediums utilized, there should not be any boundaries or limits on the artist’s own expression. The world should be as we see it. No matter the color or shape, the purpose behind each of my artworks is about redefining not only how we look at ourselves but also how we observe the world around us. The inspiration behind each artwork is about the freedom to express ourselves in any manner that we choose. Negative or positive, it should generate a dialogue. As such, artwork should be unstructured and undisciplined, an escapism for what would otherwise be a regimented structured life. I am an Artist. As an artist, it’s important that my art expresses a raw subjective perspective of how I observe the world around me. I hope that when an individual sees my artwork, they see something about themselves and the world around them that they otherwise never would have known existed. My current project is a multi-media story about redefining my identity of who I am as both a Mexican and also an American woman in the United States. My societal existence is sometimes beautiful but also skewed or distorted. My current artworks reflect the escapism from the cultural boundaries or limits that society places upon an American-Mexican woman. In each of these artworks, I break-the-glass-ceiling. The boundaries that once shrouded my existence, dissipate. I am unimpeded and freed from the cages that once confined me. Now, I am paddling my canoe through the proverbial waters, beyond the earth and the sky. I am limitless.
