When you hear your first Clive Aden song you will know that you have experienced a unique sound and a powerful voice. Clive’s music will infect you. His beats will get under your skin and his lyrics will possess your mind. Clive’s work is a product of his life experiences, combined with a sharp wit and humor. But what really fuels Clive’s fire is his irrepressible drive to create and express, to write, to sing, and shout out loud. Clive’s music tells the stories of all of us - stories of the good times, of the struggles and pain, and ultimately, the dreams we all share. Clive Aden’s full name is Clive Elston Aden III, the most recent in a lineage of Belizean men. He is a first generation American, born on June 28th 19eighty something, in Los Angeles, California, to Dorla Yorke, who arrived in the states as a young teen. Clive’s Belizean roots and pride for his heritage runs deeply through his veins. Clive is equally grounded in the culture of his South Central Los Angeles hometown. Clive’s immigrant parents struggled in the United States. They lived in poverty, and as a child he moved frequently. Day to day life was full of threats and challenges. Clive’s teen years were problematic, with increasing incidents of serious trouble. It wasn’t until Clive became active in a student organization called South Central Youth Empowered through Action (SCYEA) that he was able to switch gears and pursue a path of political education and academic excellence. Throughout his life, music has been Clive’s escape, relief and joy. Music feeds his soul. His influences range from the soul of The Temptations to the classic rock of the 70’s, from the visions of Tupac and Eminem to rockers such as Fallout Boy and Blink 182. Just recently, in the fall of 2009, Clive took his own musical career seriously and began to make beats and record songs. His early work exhibits a brilliant talent and distinct style, which blends rap, hip hop, reggae, rock and R&B. Clive is a poet with a quick wit and sharp grasp of language, an instinct for the beat, a powerful unique voice, and eruptive delivery. His music is full of humor, anger, gentleness, frustrations, joy and pain. He approaches life fearlessly, head on, no bullshit, and demands that people be honest, open and real. Clive will be the first to tell you that he is a weirdo, living his life out of the box, never holding back, and never ceasing to amaze, surprise and inspire those around him.
