Connie Minowa

Visual Art – New York - NYC

I feel fortunate to be self employed as a full time artist, creating my own body of work as well as commissioned paintings, prints and jewelry for my Etsy store, and making live paintings on stage with the band Cloud Cult. My professional training was at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Painting and Drawing. My style of painting and subject matter is diverse and eclectic. My work can range from painterly animal and human figures to total abstraction. Even though I work intentionally, from life, tradition, and innovation, I feel like I am a vessel being guided by the unconscious and the energies that be to simply create. In my studio, you’ll find me listening to music, or pubic radio programs. During the painting process, I take breaks to research concepts or symbolism, or read about philosophical or spiritual ideas for added inspiration. I have received press ranging from National Public Radio and Minnesota Parent, to a feature in the Wall Street Journal. When not creating in the studio, I am with my family or working on environmental health and sustainability issues through our non-profit Earthology Institute.
