Fashion – Ottawa
Cornelia Turcu is a fashion designer with over 10 years of experience. She was born and raised in Republic of Moldova, a small and beautiful country located in the heart of the old European continent.
The passion for fashion and clothing design comes from childhood. She began learning how to sew and draft pattern in Technological College, here she studied Tailoring as a Major from 1994 to 1999. In 2004 Cornelia graduated Technical University of Moldova, obtaining Licensed Engineer diploma in Clothing Design and Fabrics Technology. After graduation she began to work as freelance designer offerings bespoke design and made to measure women’s apparel for day-wear and special events.
To avoid the routine and quench the thirst of designing something high creative and avant-garde concepts Cornelia was engaged in several art and photo projects which were made in collaboration with Make-up & Hair Style Academy “ Beauty for Life”. Their works compete in several International Art and Beauty Competitions and brought them many awards:
• Grand Prix at Moldovan Championship of Stylists, 2011.
• 10th place at World Championship for Hair Stylists, Milano, Italy, 2011.
• 3rd place in the International Competition of Art and Beauty , St. Petersburg, Russia, 2012.
• The winner of the International Competition of Art and Beauty , “ Nevskie Berega” St. Petersburg, Russia, 2013
All these works has been featured in national and international magazines and online media.
In March of 2013 Cornelia moved with her family to Canada.
In March of 2015 Cornelia Turcu launched a couture collection in the Couture show as part of Oxford Fashion week 2015.
In July 2015 the designer showed a Ready-to-wear collection in ethnic style at the Contest of Emerging Designers of Moldova called “Proud”.
In September 2015 Cornelia was confirmed for The New York Collections, produced by Oxford Fashion Studio.
