Performing Art – Philadelphia

BFA Graduate from Temple University. Residing in Philadelphia, PA. Originally from Allentown, PA. Danzel is a hip-hop based artist that has also studied in modern, jazz, contemporary, ballet and African techniques. Danzel has been choreographing and teaching for about 7 years now, mainly within his Hip-Hop aesthetic, but also enjoys fusing other styles within his hip-hop vocabulary. He has trained under artists such as Dominick Boyd and Dawn Blanco in his early years of his artistic journey while growing up in Allentown, PA. Since moving to Philadelphia, he has trained at Temple University under instructors such as Shaness Kemp, Kariamu Welsh, Jillian Harris, etc. He now is a part of two companies where he trains in Umfundalai technique with the Berry & Nance Dance Project directed by Kemal Nance and Stafford Berry, as well as training in Hip-Hop styles such as House with Just Sole: Street Dance Theatre directed by Kyle and Dinita Clark. In his own time he runs his own college based dance company entitled D2D: Dare to Dance where he is creating a space for dancers to find their own artistic voices while in pursuit of finding themselves as people. He also takes part in the battle scene where he has won 1st place All Styles Battles at events such as The Thesis in Tampa, Florida, Battle For Your Life: Street Dance Competition, & World Of Dance. Now Danzel is teaching the urban youth at The Village of Arts & Humanities, and workshops all around.
