Dohiyi's Mind

Visual Art – Baltimore

I am an aspiring artist based in Baltimore, MD. I have been drawing since the age of 4 (shout out to my dad for blessing me with his creative gift). My heart was always in art until I started taking art classes in school. There was always a certain look that the teachers were looking for. My art would be "good" but it wasn't what they expected. I was tired of my art being told that it doesn't fit (i.e lines are not straight, disproportion, bad color scheme). I was afraid I wouldn't be accepted to the art community. Therefore, I decided to take a step back from pursing my art. However, there were always little reminders telling me to come back. It may be a little doodle I subconsciously drew while I am at an unimportant meeting at work. It may be the slight urge to design the letters of the title on the store ad. One day, I pulled out the paint and canvas set I received a couple of Christmases ago. I allowed my mind to take over the empty canvas. The end result: Dohiyi, which means Peace in the Cherokee language. BOOM! Dohiyi's Mind is born. I believe my time to show what I believe is art is now. I am ready to shine what happens in the mind of Dohiyi.
