Deonte Scott

Performing Art – Houston

Deonte Scott, Chicago born and raised author, spoken word artist and poet, is expanding his reach across the country with his words and passion. Deonte started writing poetry back in 1999 when he was in college; his first piece of poetry was inspired by love. He had no idea that being alone in his dormitory with his pen, pad and the thought of a young lady he admired would turn into a greater love of writing. He learned quickly that expressing himself through written words and poems about love and relationships was a natural fit. Deonte’s work has since become more diversified and showcases his talent of using real life situations to weave a story. Some are personal and sometimes, he sees a situation that he is inspired to write about. He touches the controversial areas in people’s lives that most are afraid to expose with a unique type of wit and clarity. What he loves most about being a spoken word artist is the fact that he is able to be an inspiration through his words. “To have someone say to me that my poetry touched them or helped them get through a tough situation is the best feeling anyone could ever experience,” said Deonte. “In those moments I realize that I am walking in the purpose that God has laid out for me.” Deonte was recently one of the featured artists at the Raw Artists Houston Showcase and has been performing all over the Houston area. Deonte has opened up for the likes of James Fortune & Fiya, RA Vernon and Darrin Henson. He is the current host of the Raw Artists Houston Showcases and is recording his first studio poetry album “Dirt off the SOUL Of My Feet.” For booking information, please contact [email protected].
