DUBLIC

Visual Art – Ottawa

My name is Patrick Fraser. I use the name DUBLIC as my artist name. It’s an acronym: Designed, Uninhibited, Branded, Laboured, Imagined, Created. I was born in the South London, England UK Borough of Balham. I moved to Ottawa in 1974. As a kid, I’d watch Saturday morning cartoons and try to draw what I saw on the TV screen — Bugs Bunny, Scooby Doo, Fat Albert & The Cosby Kids … I have always loved to draw and enjoyed art since elementary school throughout high school. After graduation, I left Ottawa to Toronto’s George Brown College for their Graphic Design program. After completing the course, returned to Ottawa where I landed a job with Corel Corporation. While there, I was able to merge my drawing talent with computer skills to create original digital artwork. With 10 years of hi-tech experience behind me, a friend of mine offered me a position to teach children(ages 7-12) the art of Cartooning and Animation. I took the position and I am now in my 7th year of teaching and still have a great time doing it. I continue to be inspired everyday by artists such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Robert Crumb to name a few. My next step is to get my work exposed in local galleries while having fun doing so. I strive to offer something unique and vibrant while expressing my passion and love for art.
