I consider myself a Californian, in terms of my style and voice. I work primarily in oil and watercolor to explore and reveal the strength and beauty of our transcendent human "being". I was introduced to painting by my mother, who was an artist and educator. My father, the minister, infused me with his passion for philosophy--which drives my desire to ask and answer questions with color.
I have a Khalo-like obsession with Eden and our individual and collective Genesis story. I think most viewers' first impression is mostly about "pretty", because of the vibrancy and feminine voice of my compositions--but I'm luring them into my garden and hope they get a little lost. It's usually only in those moments of not knowing that we can truly see--when we are beyond the bindings of our intellect enough to taste awe, or "ah-ha!"
