Eric Estrada

Visual Art – Miami

Eric Estrada is an artist from Miami, Florida. Born in 1984, he grew up in an artistic household. His father, a folk artist turned sign painter, made a living through art. The house where he grew up in had an empty wall in the back yard. In an attempt to keep him off the streets, his parents granted him and his friends permission to use the blank wall to experiment with spray paint. Throughout his high school years, he spent most of his time in the local Miami graffiti scene where he would attend events around town. As he got older, the desire to graffiti slowly faded away. While apprenticing under the local artist “Meer”, he focused his artistic energy into painting custom automobiles and speed boats. However, those jobs lacked artistic freedom; something of huge importance to any aspiring artist. One night, he and a friend had the urge to go out and graffiti like old times, but in an effort to avoid any illegal activity, they chose acrylic on canvas as their medium instead. Eric spent many years of his life on the water and became an avid fly fisherman, so fish were his natural inspiration. Some of his work has been on display in shows around the Miami and Tampa Bay areas. Most recently he took part in a great project for Art Basel. He showcased his artwork on a Steinway Piano for Pop-Up Piano Miami.
