Geoff Callahan

I attempt to examine the phenomenon of emotional experience through active interpretation of my own life and the myriad environments I have been exposed to. What began as an effort to channel my struggle with bipolar disorder soon translated into images that surpassed a personal relativity and entered into a realm of shared aesthetic experience. I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA then moved to Los Angeles where I developed my craft at Pitzer College. Paint and Installation have become my second language, a way to communicate and articulate myself. I can\'t make art in a vacuum as my artwork reflects the world around me; sharing is what gives it meaning.
