Hello! My name is Monica and I\'m an ex-big 4 accountant turned jewellery maker and designer. I started off being a self-taught jewellery designer and maker and I\'m currently studying my Jewellery and object design diploma at the Design Centre, Enmore in Sydney, Australia. I studied a Business and International Studies degree at UTS and during the last year of my studies, I began designing and hand-making jewellery as a personal hobby. It was fun to take a break from studying numbers and satisfying to flex my creative muscles, turning an idea from my head into a tangible piece of jewellery that was a bit adventurous and pushed the boundaries. After graduating, I started working in one of the big 4 accounting firms in 2011 so unfortunately the shop stayed very much a side project. Fortunately, more opportunities were opening up in 2013 and 2014 including: • Invited to participate at the first Sydney RAW artists showcase, • Exhibited in Etsy Interactive’s exhibition at the Fracture Gallery in Federation Square Melbourne as part of the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, • Debuted in the Sydney Finders Keepers Markets, • Featured in Phollio Creative and • Exhibited in the Etsy & The Rocks Village Bizarre to name a few. I left my accounting career at the end of 2013 and decided to head to the jewellery workbench to pursue my passion. I’m super excited about incorporating the skills I’m learning from my jewellery design studies into future pieces– so expect more adventurous pieces to come!
