Visual Art – Las Vegas

I am what most would call a “naïve” artist due to the fact that I have not had the benefit of any formal art training. I like to describe myself as an "oblique artist"; not parallel, not perpendicular; not outsider, not mainstream; not didactic but not necessarily naive. I create mixed-media, assemblage sculptures using a combination of mostly antique objects that I have collected over the years from junkyards, antique stores and flea markets. I then incorporate these items with wet-molded leather, stiffened fabrics and hammered metals such as copper and brass and finish them with air brushed acrylics, crackle paint and even flame coloring. Each creation becomes a unique fusion of vintage objects and new materials that are fashioned using variations of time-honored artisanal methods such as cuir bouilli and metalsmithing. I hope you enjoy my work.
