GOLDHEIST

Music – Sydney

GOLDHEIST (aka Hester Fraser) is a mystifying mix of classic and kooky. She learnt classical piano from age 6, sang with national choir, Gondwana Voices, and completed a BMus Studies (Hons II) majoring in Composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Amidst all the formal training, she has opted for life in the popular music industry, performing her collection of original repertoire at venues in Sydney and across broader NSW. Originally hailing from rural Australia, there is a magnificent sense of space in Fraser’s music. Her voice is raw and ethereal, calling across land and sea, her range and virtuosity the product of much experimentation, gently pushing the boundaries, climbing ever skyward. She explores multi-vocals, creating depth and texture by using the wildly multifaceted instrument of the human voice in combination with electro-acoustic elements, live drums and keys.  An avid humanitarian, Fraser has also used her music to further charitable causes. In 2010, Fraser held a Fundraiser Concert in Armidale, which raised almost $15 000 for the CARE Australia Haiti Earthquake Appeal. Most recently, she donated her song “Dust” to raise money for drought relief, supporting the “We’re For The Bush” Drought Appeal, and the New England Drought Appeal through online sales of the song. These efforts were reinforced by a DUST Fro Drought Relief Tour across NSW, raising funds and awareness for drought in rural Australia, with $6500 raised for food and fodder, almost 3500 YouTube views and just under 1000 concert attendees over seven shows.
