GRACE COSTA

Photography – Canberra

“I love the art of photography and the freedom and challenge it gives me. It’s the type of art that is so unpredictable- I have to constantly evolve, just as photography evolves. It’s a life process for me.” Australian born Grace Costa grew up in Canberra where she completed her studies in commercial photography. Grace is a full time professional photographer focussing on portraits and commercial work. She is accustomed to photographing high profile people, and spends much of her free time exploring personal work in the form of photographic art and individual portraits, where her influences are the great painters of the 19th century. Grace is currently working with alternative photographic processes such as the photogram, and the use of medium format black and white film. Her current ‘poppy collection’ is continually gaining interest, after being exhibited in Melbourne earlier this year. In 2012 Grace produced her successful first solo exhibition titled ‘BUCK’D’, documenting Australian rodeo, which showed in Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney. Grace’s work has also featured in the state and national press, and her photography hangs in private collections. Grace has achieved many prestigious awards nationally and internationally. These include Finalist in National Photographic Portrait Prize 2014, Finalist Freemantle International Portrait Prize2014, Winner- Click 12 at the Brunswick Street Gallery, Melbourne.
