Asher

Visual Art – Seattle

My name is Asher. I was born and raised on the beautiful tropical island of St. Lucia located in the Caribbean. From a very young age I have always loved drawing and painting. Anyone who knows me from my childhood will tell you that art has always been a defining part of my life. I would read comic books and draw my own versions of the superheroes featured on the pages. While at school, I would spend time during class sketching and doodling cartoon characters. During my early to late teens I would collect Hip-Hop (Source/XXL) magazines and I would try to mimic the different styles of graffiti which were in the street art section. This led to me being a self-employed artist-for-hire, designing mainly T-Shirts and motorcycle parts which gained me customers and a reputation as a talented artist around my neighborhood as well as other parts of the island. After a few years of feeling stagnated, and feeling the need to explore art more deeply I received some encouragement from a family member who resided in the US at the time, to move to the US to pursue a career in Art. I had always marveled at the great billboards and murals I saw produced by foreign (American) artists in the graffiti and airbrush medium/genre. I hope to one day experience that kind of success and hopefully leave my mark on the art world.
