Gypsy Jayne Art

Visual Art – Nashville

I have been an artist since I can remember. At the age of 18, I had several interviews with journalists and other media regarding my painted furniture art. Contracts were signed for a 60/40 arrangement. One piece was sold, and I thought I was on my way to stardom. Unfortunately, my partner ran off with all of my pieces and was never to be seen again. She literally vanished-haven't heard from her or seen her since 2003 (I was a vulnerable 18 year old girl at the time). After countless hours of searching, I became discouraged. I went to college and thought that going to school would help regain my creative spirit as a Studio Art Major, but in reality it only made it worse as I kept waiting and hoping to hear from my business partner, but never did. I switched majors and became a nurse instead. I became so discouraged that I quit art for about 10 years. Fortunately, I started back up again once I became a travel nurse. Traveling helped me regain that creative spirit I once knew. Now I am stationary in a permanent nursing gig, but I would LOVE to do even more with my painting, especially if there was a way to incorporate that within the Women's Health field that is the area I specialize in. I love experimenting with different techniques, textures, and colors. Subjects I enjoy painting include: the female figure, female medical issues, comical feminism, and city skylines. I also like to create those paintings that spread awareness and/or really make you THINK about several issues we see in the world today. I haven’t made many of these yet, but have big plans for subjects such as Domestic Violence, LGBT, Civil Rights, Equality…etc. Currently, I supplement my nursing career with art, but hoping to do the exact opposite someday...sooner rather than later. Thank you so much for stopping by to support my art! Please let me know if you have any questions. Follow me on Instagram to see my latest art: @gypsyjayneart
