Makeup artist  Emma Fortini talks a bit about her work. You can see her beautify the runway at the next Hollywood showcase at Cinespace on Thursday, September 2nd!

Tell us about yourself and how you got started in makeup artistry.
I grew up in Encinitas Ca, then headed to Ventura County where I got my BA at Cal State University Channel Islands in Studio art. Soon after college I moved to LA and went to Make-Up Designory where I completed the multi-media program. I have had a passion and interest in makeup and all things beauty related since a very young age. I would do all of my friends’ makeup for school dances and dreamed of making makeup artistry my career. Since Makeup school I have worked on numerous photo shoots, fashion shows, and short films. I am currently working as freelance makeup artist.

From where do you draw inspiration for your work?
Inspiration is everywhere for me, from fashion, magazines, everyday people, and paintings -  all artwork for that matter. It’s a creative outlet for me. I definitely draw inspiration from art forms of all types and also from traveling and different cultures.

What do you love most about what you do?
The things that I love the most about doing makeup would have to be making people feel beautiful and good about themselves, expressing myself through makeup, and being able to experiment with color and creating different looks.

When are you aren't busy making people beautiful, how do you enjoy spending your free time?
When I’m not doing makeup I love to trying out new restaurants, playing with my two dogs, going to the beach, shopping, wine tasting, love to travel, and doing pretty much anything with friends or family.

Any makeup artists out there that you are most inspired by?
There are many makeup artists i admire, to name a few I love the work of Francesa Tolot, Ve Neil, and Val Garland. I think 1940's and 50's were good decades because of love the "pin up girl" look. But really I have appreciation for all decades and eras of makeup.

Any accomplishments you are most proud of?
My biggest accomplishment thus far that I'm proud of is graduating college, and also graduating makeup school.

Any aspirations for your career?
Some of my goals are to be a successful well known makeup artist, to inspire others, and eventually to have my own makeup line.
